HAIRGENX was formulated as a natural alternative to prescription hair loss treatments in South Africa. As effective as these drugs are at inhibiting the production of Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the listed possible side effects, render these products out of bounds for women, and can make these drugs very risky for men
Hair loss in men
In men, hereditary male pattern baldness (DHT triggered androgenetic alopecia) is responsible for about 90% of all hair loss.
Men tend to develop a receding hairline or baldness in a U shaped area on top of the scalp. Hair on the sides and back generally have closed DHT receptors and will not fall out, hence the transplanting of these hairs when surgery is needed.
For men, in contrast to women, hair loss and shaving their heads as baldness progresses is generally more accepted.
Hair loss in women
Women are more likely to be emotionally and psychologically devastated when experiencing hair loss.
However, unlike men, women do not usually go bald; they may see a widening parting or a thinner ponytail, or maybe even a recession in the temple area. Female pattern hair loss can begin in women as early as their 20s and affects almost 30% of women over 30 years of age.
